Site identity
Appearance → Customize → Site Identity. Alongside WordPress’s own logo, title, tagline and site icon controls, Fern adds the following.
Logo position
Where the logo sits against the site title and tagline — Above the title or Beside the title. Above is the default.
Logo shape
Normal or Circle. Circle crops the logo to a round mask, which suits a portrait or a mark but not a wordmark.
Logo size
The height of the logo in the header: 32px, 44px, 60px, 80px or 100px. The default is 44px. Width follows the image’s own proportions.
The three settings above only appear once a logo image is set — there is nothing for them to act on until then.
Display site title
On by default. Turn it off to show the logo alone. The site title is the one link neither link style restyles: it keeps the text color and no underline whatever you pick.
Display site tagline
On by default. The tagline reads in the secondary text color — see Design.
Homepage Settings
Two more settings live in Customize → Homepage Settings, next to WordPress’s own front page controls. Both only matter when the front page is a static page.
Display homepage title
Off by default. A static front page is usually built to open with its own content rather than with a heading repeating the page name. Turn it on if your homepage wants a heading of its own.
Show latest posts after homepage content
On by default. Under whatever your homepage says, the theme prints the most recent posts as one-line rows — the same row the Inline blog layout uses. Turn it off for a homepage that is only its own content.
Hiding a page’s title
Any single page can drop its own heading: open it in the editor and tick Hide page title? in the Page options box in the sidebar. The theme closes the gap the heading left, so the content starts where the heading would have.
